Julie Miller - BIO

Julie Miller

Julie Miller works as Director of Inventory Control for Best Buy Co., Inc., making her responsible for billions of dollars of inventory while maintaining a budget that minimizes expenses for the company. She was elected to the inaugural Efficient Enterprise Champion team at Best Buy, an initiative to reduce sales and general administrative costs across the organization; this is where her true inner Cheapo shined. Miller's experience as president of the Minnesota Treasury Management Association fostered her communication skills and allowed her peers to see her as a strong leader and knowledgeable source who worked well with association members. For the past five years, Miller has been sought after to speak on cash management topics for audiences of treasurers, CFOs, controllers, and financial experts. Her most recent engagement was at the New York Cash Exchange. She has also drafted crucial proposals for letters of credit with Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and J.P. Morgan Chase.

Like her co-author, Miller grew up in Edina, Minnesota. However, she grew up on the "poor side of the tracks." Miller's parents had seven hungry mouths to feed, so her behaviors were molded by the need to be presentable at school at the lowest feasible cost. This included buying generic brand deodorant and shampoo, which her mother then watered down to share with her siblings.

Miller's longtime friendship with Herbst has taught her more impressive ways to be cheap which can be applied in the many realms of her life. She is continually inspired to cut more corners each and every day by her cheap friend. It is believed that these cost saving measures have allowed her to own more than one automobile.
